A lunch to celebrate a Birthday. Couldn’t have found a better venue. Great view with comfortable seating. The service was great & the food really tasty. Not a huge menu, but enough to cover most of the bases. The Daily Specials were good value for money.

Absolutely amazing the service the food and friendly staff . Their prices are very good and the portions are good. I have been their numerous times for lunch on a Sunday and more recently for their Pensioners lunch and the restaurant is always full of happy vibes and friendly people.

Went during the day when it was nice and quiet. Nice ocean views of the north of Durban supplemented by great pub food. We had the ribs and the chicken. Both were equally delish would 10/10 recommend

After seeing The Lookout recommended on Instagram, we decided to try it for lunch last Friday and it was absolutely worth it. The specials are very reasonably priced, the service is friendly, and the setting is a win. The restaurant overlooks the ocean, and watching the light aircrafts take off and land at Virginia Airport adds something really unique to the experience. It’s also airy and well ventilated, which made a huge difference during the Durban heatwave. You can actually enjoy your meal without melting. We ordered the daily specials: a rack of ribs with chips, and the rib and wing combo with onion rings. The rack of ribs was a generous portion. When I first saw the cutlery provided, I was slightly skeptical about how well it would handle ribs, but they were so tender the cutlery barely had to work. The chips were rustic, thick cut, crispy on the outside and honestly a dream if you love potatoes as much as I do. For starters, we had the creamy cheesy garlic snails. They were tasty, although I would have preferred the bread to be a little crispier. The wings were a good size and paired beautifully with what I believe was a ranch sauce. The crispy onion rings were a great touch and a nice alternative to chips. We enjoy sharing, so it was great being able to try a bit of everything. I had the coffee shake, which was cold, delicious and exactly what I needed to survive the heat while satisfying my caffeine craving. David stuck with his favourite Fanta. After taking some time to digest our generous mains, we ordered the deep fried Oreos with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was the first time we’d seen this on a menu, so we had to try it. The Oreos were coated in a pancake-like batter and fried until golden and crispy. Paired with the cold ice cream, it was absolutely divine. A must try. Overall, it was a calm, relaxing lunch with attentive but non-intrusive service. We were able to enjoy the food, the view and the conversation without interruption. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

Beautiful restaurant with a view. We went with my friend for a birthday dinner. We didn’t know they take bookings, but the nice lady at the reception got us a table promptly without any fuss. Great customer service from everyone we interacted with. We are definitely coming back during the day to properly appreciate the views.

We arrived without a reservation and most tables on the balcony were reserved, however made a request that should any table open up, we would like to move up. The manager (Sne), did not fail and we were quickly seated on the balcony, overlooking La Lucia and the ocean. The atmosphere is vibrant with conversation and laughter, no music needed to keep the high. Starters and mains were quickly prepped, with surprisingly large portions. A variety of beers available on tap and the bar area separated from the restaurant family area. Daily specials are available and the staff are constantly checking and aware of what you need. Fantastic place and food..

Sea view from the balcony is amazing. The daily specials are well priced. Portions are generous. My husband had the Mexican Rump with a side of mash, which he loved. I had the rib and wing combo with a side of chips. My entire meal was overcooked. Wings were hard and the chips tasted as if it were refried. I will give them another try though. Also, the menu didn't have a drinks portions. We had to ask the waitor about their options.

I just had carrot cheese cake and banana bread, and it was tasty! It's not too sweet like usuall cakes in South Africa. Staff was friendly and this cafe has great view!
